With a tagline of "Silly, clumsy, unconscious, a failure with women...", you know to expect some hilarious antics in James Peris: No License Nor Control. You play as James Peris, a disheveled "secret agent" who has to solve mysteries and puzzles with wit and crass humor.
The gameplay is simple. Click where you want to go, hover over objects you want to examine and right click to toggle viewing/interacting with objects. There is plenty to look at in James Peris: No License Nor Control and you'll either love or hate its simple, cartoon-y art style.
One of the things that makes point and click adventure games so fun is the dialogue. James Peris: No License Nor Control features campy and hilarious dialogue for the most part but its humor can fall flat on its face once in a while. Some lines are delivered so shamelessly that you'd expect to hear a drum roll afterward.
There are also some translation quirks found in James Peris: No License Nor Control. It started out as a Spanish game and has been translated to English. There are a few idioms here and there that aren't used in English, making some phrases sound awkward. Some sentences are direct translations from Spanish, which makes for some awkward sounding phrases.
Overall, James Peris: No License Nor Control is a comical adventure game but its sometimes campy dialogue and lack luster story just doesn't make it fun.
